You will need the free Flash Player 8 to play these games!

Based on the 1980 arcade hit by ATARI. This is my first finished project. Nothing too fancy, but it assisted me in learning about sine, cosine, and all that other math garbage.... I was married to an engineer at the time and she tried to help, but I don't think I ever did properly understand it.Collision detection is off a bit, but the FLASH collision detection can be a bit buggy. Never got around to the hyperspace feature either, though that would've been easy...

After screwing around on EBAY for awhile, I remembered what it was that made me want to mess with this kind of stuff in the first place. Inspired by other handheld game simulations on the web, I decided to do one in Flash. This is a very basic game of my own invention, but it was quick and fun to create.

Based on the 1980 arcade hit by STERN, and one of my favorites. As far as I'm concerned, part of the charm of BERZERK were the goofy synth voices that taunted you during the attract mode and gameplay ("coins detected in pocket", etc....) so I used the original samples from the game. A weird HITTEST scripting bug in this one occasionally places the robots inside walls and on top of the player at the start of screens despite my efforts to fix it. Another pushes the robot bolts through walls if they are standing a bit too close (if the bolts are faster than the walls are thick). Simple fix, but I'm onto better things.... This game was a lesson in A.I. and "fuzzy logic" for me. The robots get progressively smarter and learn not to shoot at each other or run into walls. I'm proud of it..... Maybe I'll do a sequel!

Though most of the silly graphics are my responsibility, the cool moon background is a scan of the background from a real Taito Co. Space Invaders machine. This was a lesson in functions.... functions completely handle the invader movement and firing. Building the shields were a bit tricky as well. This game is a true classic, and I hope I've done it justice.....

One could not call this little toy a "game", but it is a fun little program nonetheless. I designed this way back before I knew about such hepful tools as XML or importing variables into flash, so all the text is hard-coded in. The annoying coin sound was a coffee cup with a few quarters caught by a crappy microphone I had at the time. See what your future holds!

Play I-Ching

This was an interesting strategy game taught in FLASH MX 2004 GAMES MOST WANTED from FriendsOfEd Press under the name "Monstachase". I updated the graphics and added scoring to it. Nothing special, but still a good way to waste away time. If people will strain to play tetris and solitare on cell phones, they'll play this. The action is turn based. You move, then the monster. Make it to the flashing arrow and you escape. With each escape, the maze is redrawn with fewer blocks, making it easier for the monster to catch you.
